Most foreigners I encounter know all about Tintin and Asterix, my two most favorite comics, but most Americans have no idea who they are. I am always puzzled by this.

Spielberg owns the movie rights to Tintin and is reportedly working on a trilogy.

Well I know Tintin and Asterix very well. I have all of the books ! And the perspective of Spielberg doing something with them is thrilling !

I read Tintin in Children's Digest magazine when I was a kid, but as you said there was rarely any mention of him in the US otherwise. I had forgot about him for 30 years until this summer when we were exploring the streets of Paris and came across a Tintin store! I'll have to keep watch on eBay for some books.
